Skill Level: easy
Materials Used:
- Worsted weight (4) cotton yarn
- Size F (3.75mm) crochet hook
- Darning needle
- Natural wood teething ring
Top 5 Crochet tools I use everyday.
Gage:
10 sc = 2 inches
10 rows = 2 inches
* I tend to crochet tighter than most people, so you may need to adjust your hook size. But gauge isn’t super important for this pattern, so if you are a free spirit just wing it!
Abbreviations Used:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
ss = slip stitch
YO = yarn over
If you are new at reading crochet patterns, here is a great tutorial by the Craft Yarn Council that I highly recommend.
Notes:
- When you see ( ), everything in the parentheses should be worked as a set. For example, (1sc, 1dc) 2X, means, “sc, dc, sc, dc”.
- When you see a number followed by a stitch, that stitch needs to be worked over that number of stitches. For example, “5sc” means 1 sc in each of the next 5 stitches.
- Chain 1 and turn after each row unless indicated.
Special Stitches:
Bobble stitch: (YO, insert hook in next stitch, YO, pull up a loop, YO pull through 2 loops), repeat in same stitch 4 more times, yarn over, draw through all 6 loops on your hook, ss to close. (Bobble will be “bumped out” on the back side of your work.)
Pattern:
Ch 20.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, and in each ch across.
Row 2: (3sc, bobble) 4X, 3sc.
Row 3: sc across. (*note: sc into the ss on the top of each bobble.)
Row 4: 5sc, bobble, (3sc, bobble) 2X, 5sc.
Row 5: sc across.
Row 6: Repeat row 2.
Row 7-8: sc across.*
(*You may need to add or subtract a row or two of sc’s depending on the size of wooden ring you are using.)
- Finish off by cutting yarn. Leave a long enough tail for sewing.
- Wrap around wooden ring and sew first row to last row with a whip stitch.
- Weave in all ends.
I hope you enjoy this pattern! I would love to see your finished items!
