Skill Level: easy

Sizes:  0-3 months

Materials Used:
Worsted weight yarn (4), (I prefer I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby.)

Size F (3.75mm) crochet hook

Scissors

Darning needle

Optional: ribbon flowers or bow

Gauge:
For this pattern I find it’s easier to make the first 3 rows then measure to determine the correct hook size needed. See pattern for measurements.

Abbreviations Used:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
ss = slip stitch
hdc = half double crochet
dc2tog = double crochet 2 together

If you are new at reading crochet patterns, here is a great tutorial by the Craft Yarn Council that I highly recommend.

 

Notes:

1. When you see ( ), everything in the parentheses should be worked as a set. For example, (1sc, 1dc) 2X, means, “sc, dc, sc, dc”.
2. When you see a number followed by a stitch, that stitch needs to be worked over that number of stitches. For example, “5sc” means 1 sc in each of the next 5 stitches.
3. At the end of each row join with a slip stitch to the first stitch (NOT the chain 1) of that row to complete the row.
4. The number in parentheses at the end of each row indicates the total stitch count for that row when completed.
5. The chain 1 at the beginning of the row DOES NOT count as a stitch.
6. On rows 5 & 6, the 1st stitch is skipped, and the last stitch is worked in the join of the previous row. This prevents the finished slipper from twisting out of shape.

 

Pattern Size 0-3 Months

Row 1: Ch 10. Sc in 2nd chain from hook. 7sc, 5sc in last ch, working along opposite side of chain, 7sc, 2sc in last ch. (22)

 

Row 2: Ch1, 2hdc in first st, 7hdc, 2hdc in each of the next 5 stitches, 7hdc, 2hdc in each of the last 2 stitches. (30)

Row 3: Ch1, 2hdc in first st, 12hdc, 2hdc in each of the next 3 stitches, 12hdc, 2hdc in each of the last 2 stitches. (36)

**After row 3 measure for gauge:
0-3 months = 3.5 inches

Row 4: Ch 1, 36hdc. (36)

Row 5: Ch 1, skip first stitch, 36hdc. (Last hdc is made in the join of previous row.) (36).

Row 6: Ch 1, skip first stitch, 12hdc, dc2tog 6x, 12hdc. (Last hdc is made in the join of the previous row.) (30)

Row 7: Ch 1, 11sc, dc2tog 4x, 11sc. (26) Cut yarn, weave in ends.

**Embellishment Ideas**

Adding a bow, or ribbon flowers to these sweet slippers gives them an extra special touch!

Mini Bow Crochet Pattern

• Gauge isn’t super important for this bow.
• I use worsted weight yarn (4), and a size F (3.75mm) hook.

Ch 21. (Leave a beginning yarn tail long enough to sew up the seam.)

Row 1: Working in the back bumps of the chain, sc in 2nd ch from hook, and each ch across. (20)

Rows 2-4: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (20)

• Cut yarn, leaving enough yarn to wrap around center of bow.
• Use beginning yarn tail to sew the two ends together. (This doesn’t need to be too perfect. The seam is hidden in the back.)

• With the seam at the back, wrap ending yarn tail tightly around the center a few times to form the bow. Securely stitch the yarn tail to the back using a darning needle.

• You can sew the bow on using the yarn tail. Or, you can weave in the yarn ends and use hot glue to attach the bow. (My hot glue gun and I have a love/hate relationship! I love using it, but I burn myself Every. Dang. Time! But, I still use it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
