Skill Level: beginner

Materials Used:

  • Size (4) Worsted Weight Yarn
  • Crochet hook Size G (4.25mm)**
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker

**This yarn and hook size makes a bow approximately 2 inches wide.

If you are new at reading crochet patterns, here is a great tutorial by the Craft Yarn Council that I highly recommend.

Notes:

  1. The number in parentheses at the end of each row indicates the total stitch count for that row when completed.
  2. The beginning chain(s) of each row DO NOT count as a stitch.
  3. When you see a number followed by a stitch, that stitch needs to be worked over that number of stitches. For example, “5sc” means 1 sc in each of the next 5 stitches.

Pattern (American Terminology):

  • Chain 5.
  • Sc in 2nd chain from hook and next 2 chains (mark 2nd sc with a stitch marker) (Photo 1), 6dc in last chain. Working along opposite side of chain, 2sc, 6dc in last chain. Slip stitch in marked stitch. (Photo 2).
  • Cut yarn, leaving enough yarn to wrap around center of bow.
  • Wrap ending yarn tail around the center a few times to form the bow. (6 or 7 wraps should do it.) Securely stitch the yarn tail through the back using a darning needle. (Photo 3).
  • You can sew the bow on using the yarn tail. Or, you can sew in the yarn ends and use hot glue to attach the bow.
